PUTTING YOURSELF FIRST.

Self care doesn't make you selfish, and that's why I have chosen to rant about it.
Self care is simply a process of exhibiting behaviours that promotes healthiness of the body, mind and emotions.Although people think that self care is selfishness, you need to throw away their misconception and take care of yourself.Take care of yourself in any and every way that you can because in the end you are all that you've got.

I have a bad habit of always putting others first, it's a habit that I carry on my head like my braids. Well, to a reasonable extent, I enjoy it because I feel I was created like this, but the funny truth is that I don't know how to stop!

There was a time when I would give almost all that I had to other people regardless of whether or not I felt comfortable. I'd literally do anything just to make them feel happy but when I figured out that some people didn't appreciate it, I started learning how to put myself first in some situations. Although I'm more conscious of my self care, I'm still trying to put myself first, sincerely I am, but then its just not working and that's because I can't help it. However, it doesn't mean that I don't practice self care.

I've come to realize that self care is very important for personal growth because since I started caring for myself I've noticed a tremendous improvement in myself generally. I see a lot of people want to be comfortable before they practice self care but the truth is that if you can't practice self care before you get the big bag, you wouldn't practice it when you get the big bag.You don't have wait until you are able to buy that dream car before you feel like you are taking care of yourself, little things matter.

Get that haircut today, change your wardrobe today, make that hairstyle you've always admired, buy yourself that shoe in the screenshot section of your phone gallery, go on a spa date with yourself, create a cozy moment with your partner today, stay off the phone, stay in bed for as long as you want, go hiking, go to the movies, spend the night at a resort, go to a new place in your city, relax and chill, just do anything that makes you feel good, healthy and refreshed.

To the crop of people that will come up with the "I don't have money" excuse, you need to understand that you don't necessarily have to spend money before you take care of yourself. Although money is a factor, you can also spend the day in your room; sleeping and eating all you can, you can read a book and stay off the Internet too. Bottom line is to just spend the day worrying about nobody but yourself. Take care of yourself for yourself, make your health, your look and general self care your new bad habit.

Now, I'm not asking you to be selfish (there's a thin line between the two)  I'm just trying to make you understand the importance of self care.

Remember that no matter how much other people love you, they would not be in bed gnashing in pain with you, feeling your pain or be buried with you if you die in the  process of putting yourself later.

Take care of yourself and others but remember First bank's catchphrase - YOUfirst!
I love you and I will be here always rooting for you.

This post made me remember the 14th of February, valentine's day in 2019, my friend and I (both single) went out, got cake and wrote self-love and we were so happy we even took pictures. Lol
