JAPA KE?
I've never been so concerned about the state of this country as I am now. No matter how positively we try to think about the progress of this country, we know deep down in our minds that it is not working, and our leaders are not the only ones adding to our problems daily; we are part of them too.
For instance, we all want to leave the country, we tell ourselves that we can't fix Nigeria and that everything is destroyed beyond repair, but have we tried to fix it once? To be very honest, I'm a Japa advocate too, but the big question is this: When you are Japaa-ing, are you going to Japa with everyone connected to your life? Most likely no, except you're stupendously rich. It simply means that when you're Japaa-ing, you're most likely going to leave your family and friends behind. In the long run, if anything happens to them, won't it get to you, wherever you are?
Sigh! I'm not going to sing the "go get your PVC, vote this candidate, or vote that candidate" anthem. I'm just here to tell you to play a part in building this nation. Let's try to do something and be proud that we didn't watch the country fail like our parents did. Let's just do something, no matter how little; play a role by educating your little community about the forthcoming election, engaging in mind-opening political conversations, and telling your friends why they should vote. I am sincerely tired of hearing the "get your PVC" campaign, because no matter how much we try, some people still won't. So, instead of jumping on the same bandwagon, change the narrative by telling people why they should get involved. Tell people to pay their quota by voting their conscience. You'd feel good knowing that you did something to change the state of the country, no matter how little.
I know that I'm beginning to sound like a motivational speaker, lol. I apologize. I'm just speaking from a place of truth because I want us all to join hands to create a Nigeria that we will be proud of. I'm not trying to pitch any candidate to you, but I hope that whichever candidate you choose to vote for gives you the Nigeria of your dreams. I hope that someday I will refer back to this post and be proud to have put it out here.
The presidential election is in less than 24 days; make sure you don't sit at home doing nothing. Let's all make a decision that will help us survive the next four years. This is for a better Nigeria, because Nigeria will be great.
I love you,
greens and whites.
